Natural Power’s state-of-the-art ControlCentre has been named as a finalist in the Excellence in Operations and Maintenance category at the Irish Wind Industry Awards. The winners will be announced at a Gala Ball this evening (24th January) at Clontarf Castle Hotel in Dublin.
ControlCentre is able to deliver operational excellence to the Irish renewable energy industry through next generation control point services for around 30 Irish wind farms, which is equivalent to around 15% of Ireland’s installed wind capacity. It is a versatile, independently operated control room servicing the renewable generation industry 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
It supports safer working conditions for personnel at wind farms and improves availability through prompt escalation of faults and any issues arising at site. Through availability forecasting services, it also contributes to electricity market efficiency through prompt and accurate forecasts which inform asset owners trading in the Integrated Single Electricity Market (I-SEM).
Seán Manley, Natural Power’s Country Director Ireland, said: “We provide a wide range of O&M services to the Irish wind industry and work closely with our clients to optimise their assets while maintaining compliance with international standards and national legislation. Operating around the clock, in a constantly evolving industry our ControlCentre team works closely with our in-house software developers to ensure that services are continually being improved and fine-tuned.
“It is future proofed to support new Irish energy projects which will contribute to increased penetration of wind energy on the grid and support the industry’s achievement of climate action objectives. We are delighted that our investment and innovation in this facility has been recognised by IWEA.”
The Irish Wind Energy Association organises the Irish Wind Industry Awards to recognise and celebrate the most original and innovative individuals and companies demonstrating excellence in their fields, showcasing the very best in wind, and honouring the people, organisations and communities going above and beyond to shape the industry’s future.
