Leading renewable energy consultancy and service provider, Natural Power, has appointed Joseph Gibbons, Principal Technical Advisor, to lead a new advisory and analytics team in the company’s Dublin base.
Relocating from Natural Power’s Glasgow office, Joseph will be responsible for expanding and upskilling the team to meet demand in the Irish market.
Joseph said: “I am excited about this opportunity, both personally and for the business. The Irish renewable energy market is incredibly buoyant, and it looks like 2024 will be a record year for the sector. However, Ireland needs to concentrate on developing renewables and associated infrastructure to make significant progress in accessing large amounts of clean and sustainable energy to help unlock economic potential and enable the country to meet its ambitious climate targets.
“From our new base in Sandyford, Dublin, we’re not only building a team capable of meeting our client’s technical requirements but also supporting the increasing demand for advisory and analytical services as the market continues to expand.”
Having been professionally involved in the renewable energy sector for more than a decade, delivering multi-disciplinary technical due diligence analysis for project financing and acquisition, specialising in onshore wind, hydro, and solar technologies, Joseph is excited to bring the knowledge gained in the UK and Northern European markets to Ireland. Joseph holds a PhD from the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and has collaborated with various research groups including the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems and the European Space Agency, publishing several peer-reviewed research articles on the themes of renewable energy systems.
Ciaran Farrell, Natural Power’s Director of Consulting Europe, is also based in Ireland. He added: “Joseph is a very welcome addition to the Dublin-based team.
